Albert C. Hyde is an adjunct professorial lecturer at American University where he teaches graduate courses in budgeting and public administration. He is the author or editor of numerous textbooks in public administration to include the forthcoming 8th edition of Classics of Public Administration. He was a senior staff member and staff consultant at the Brookings Institution from 1997 to 2009 where he led major projects in strategy, innovation, and program evaluation for numerous federal agencies. From 2010 to 2015 he has been an adjunct professor for the MPA program at San Francisco State University where he taught public management seminars.
He rejoins the faculty at American University having previously been a visiting professor from 1992 to 1996. Prior to starting his academic career, he was a Foreign Service officer with US State Department and a senior associate with the New York State Legislative Commission on Expenditure Review. He has a PhD in political science and an MPA in budgeting and finance from the State University of New York at Albany.
