Jamie Higdon has taught at American University since 2010 and worked for the Department of Homeland Security in various communication roles for five years. She joined the Department as a Presidential Management Fellow and most recently served as the Deputy Chief for Strategic Communication at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Her research interests include the intersection of social media engagement and traditional, hierarchical, bureaucratic models as well as the ways in which communication-driven collaboration can achieve transparency and cost-savings in public administration.
Jamie is a 2007 graduate of American University's Master's program in Public Communication. Her undergraduate degrees are in journalism and media communication.
